MPBA Tournament Rules 11U and 13U

We will follow the Baseball Ontario Select Tournament Rules

Format will be:

Preliminary games: Round Robin within each pool

These games may end in a tie

Semi-final and final: These games will have extra innings in case of a tie

All games will have a 1 ¾ hr time limit (no inning after) except the final which will be a full 7 innings (unless mercy rule is in effect).

At the conclusion of each game, a player of the game award will be presented to a player (chosen by his/her coach) on each team.

Ties in standings after preliminary games will be broken as follows:

Note: Teams with a forfeit loss are ineligible for tiebreakers;

a. Head to head record among tied teams;

b. Team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in games among tied teams

c. Team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in all games;

d. Team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in games among tied teams;

e. Team with the highest runs for ratio ( runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in all games;

f. Coin toss

When there are 3 or more teams tied, the tiebreakers will exclude (a). After the winner of that tie breaker is determined, the tiebreakers will continue, if necessary, excluding (a) as long as there are 3 or more teams tied. When only 2 teams remain, the tiebreaker will start at (a).

Extra inning procedure:

a. Each team will begin the extra inning (and any subsequent necessary extra innings) with a player on first and second, no outs.

b. The placement of runners of the extra inning or any subsequent innings will be determined by how the previous inning ended.

· The hitter with the last plate appearance in the previous inning will be placed at first base.

· The hitter with the second-to-last plate appearance in the previous inning will be placed at second base.

Arm care rules will be strictly enforced. Pitch counts must be entered, using the OBA Pitch Count Tracker. within 1 hour following the end of the game (or before the start of the next game, whichever is earlier) by the home team Manager (or designate).

Note that in select play, a player may not both pitch and catch in the same day.

Protests: Any protest once a game has started, the requires the Convenors intervention, will be settled on the field at the time the problem occurs. There will be a protest fee of $75.00, paid in cash, to be lodged with the OBA Select Division On-Site Convenor before the protest may be heard. This fee will be returned if the protest is upheld. Judgement calls by the umpires cannot be protested. Game delays due to protests do not invalidate the curfew rule (the clock keeps ticking).

Ejections: In the event a player or coach is ejected from a game, the individual must leave the diamond and no longer be involved in that game. The player, coach, or manager ejected from the game is suspended for the next scheduled game.
